Benjamin Franklin is famously quoted as saying, “Neither a borrower nor a lender be.”  In other words, don’t borrow nor lend money.  I’ve borrowed Franklin’s quote for the title of this post and to make another point.  What is that point?  Don’t be either an employee nor a boss.

But wait, I can hear you saying.  If you’re not an employee or a boss, what’s left?  I’m glad you asked.  And the answer is, don’t be an employee or a boss.  Be the owner of the business.

What Do You Want?

What do you want out of life?  Can you imagine a more important question you can ask yourself?  Yet most people never bother to ask the question, or if they do, they fail to ever come up with an answer.

Look around you.  How many people are living a life of their own design?  The answer is probably none, or at least very few.

The sad truth is that most people live lives that are designed by someone else.  Most people accept their lives in exchange for perceived safety or for money (sometimes not very much money).  Few people are doing something with their lives that they really are passionate about, let alone that they have thought about and done intentionally.
